Just this morning, after initially agreeing to meet with Democratic leaders in Congress, Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/09\/23\/politics\/trump-cancels-meeting-democrats-shutdown\">canceled<\/a> the meeting, instead choosing to throw the American people under the bus.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>In response, DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn mere days, millions of Americans will begin to learn that their health insurance prices are going to skyrocket by an average of 75% because of Donald Trump. But today, the White House backed out of negotiations with Democrats to prevent this entirely Republican-caused health care crisis. Despite controlling the entire government, Trump and Republicans in Congress have put the country on a collision course with a government shutdown, all because they&#8217;re hellbent on raising health care costs for our nation&#8217;s families. All Trump does is break promises and make working Americans\u2019 lives worse. He promised to bring down prices. He promised to fix health care. But his promises are bullshit. Unless you\u2019re a billionaire who stuffs his pockets with donor money, Trump doesn&#8217;t care whether you can afford your insurance costs or make ends meet. Trump owns this shutdown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMake no mistake: Democrats won\u2019t back down from protecting the American people\u2019s health care, and will fight tooth and nail to reverse the Trump-led health care crisis.
