It turns out that Trump\u2019s White House \u201ccompletely understands the anxiety of farmers<\/a>.\u201d \u201cAs for any specific actions,\u201d though, there are no plans to help them. Let\u2019s be clear: The \u201canxiety\u201d farmers have over the financial outlook is a direct result of Trump\u2019s reckless trade war, which has put farmers on the brink of bankruptcy and skyrocketed the U.S. agricultural trade deficit to a record high<\/a> \u2014 and for what? Trump could reverse his reckless economic policies today \u2014 but he won\u2019t, because he\u2019d rather satisfy his own ego.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response, DNC People\u2019s Cabinet Member and founder of The Back Forty Will Westmoreland released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ve said it time and time again: Donald Trump\u2019s second term has been devastating to rural America and the farmers and ranchers that feed this country. He can say all he wants that he \u2018loves farmers\u2019 and that he\u2019ll \u2018never do anything to hurt our farmers,\u2019 but the truth is that his reckless tariffs are causing farmers to suffer as they struggle to figure out how to sell their crops and avoid going bankrupt. Trump has completely abandoned our farmers.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to Trump\u2019s reckless trade war, family farmers are struggling to keep their finances from falling apart. Family farms are going bankrupt at the fastest pace in five years<\/a>, farm debt<\/a> is projected to increase 5% and hit a record high of $591.8 billion this year, and agricultural economists say the crops sector is already in recession<\/a>. To add insult to injury, Trump\u2019s Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is financially profiting from farmers\u2019 pain<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While families are already struggling to put food on the table as grocery prices continue to skyrocket<\/a> and the job market tanks<\/a>, Trump\u2019s billionaire-first budget bill made the largest cut to food assistance in history<\/a> for millions of Americans. Farmers and families are feeling the pain of Trump\u2019s policies \u2014 Trump knows it and doesn\u2019t even care.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
