“Yesterday’s ruling is a significant step toward getting fairer democratic maps that protect the rights of all North Carolina voters. All across the country, Republicans have repeatedly used gerrymandering to rig the system in their favor, serving themselves instead of the people who elected them. But instead of standing up for voting rights, North Carolina Republicans have wasted taxpayer dollars drawing up these unconstitutional gerrymandered districts and fighting efforts to fix this injustice in court.<\/p>\n
“These attacks undermine our democracy, and Democrats will continue to hold Republicans accountable as we fight to protect the one right that preserves all others — the right to vote.”<\/p>\n
