After receiving Donald Trump’s endorsement in a<\/span> tweet<\/span><\/a> that made false attacks on Army veteran and Lieutenant Governor Ralph Northam, Ed Gillespie is attempting <\/span>to <\/span>hide<\/span> his cozy relationship with the president. <\/span>DNC<\/span> Chair Tom Perez issued the following statement in response:<\/span> <\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“Ed Gillespie should be ashamed. Instead of refusing the president’s endorsement and condemning Trump for attacking a veteran, Gillespie took the coward’s way out. Voters have a clear choice: Ralph Northam, an Army doctor who began his career helping wounded soldiers, or Ed Gillespie, a Washington lobbyist who cares more about Trump’s wounded ego than the people of Virginia.
