{"id":2373,"date":"2018-03-08T14:14:00","date_gmt":"2018-03-08T14:14:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/democrats.org\/blog\/2018\/03\/08\/washington-post-premiums-for-aca-health-insurance-plans-could-jump-90-percent-in-three-years\/"},"modified":"2018-03-08T14:14:00","modified_gmt":"2018-03-08T14:14:00","slug":"washington-post-premiums-for-aca-health-insurance-plans-could-jump-90-percent-in-three-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/democrats.org\/news\/washington-post-premiums-for-aca-health-insurance-plans-could-jump-90-percent-in-three-years\/","title":{"rendered":"Washington Post: Premiums for ACA health insurance plans could jump 90 percent in three years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Republican tax law and Trump&rsquo;s sabotage could cause premiums to skyrocket by as much as 94% within in the next three years<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By&nbsp;Amy Goldstein<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Insurance premiums for Affordable Care Act health plans are likely to jump by 35 to 94 percent around the country within the next three years, according to a new report concluding that recent federal decisions will have a profound effect on prices.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The nationwide analysis, issued Thursday by California&rsquo;s insurance marketplace, finds&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/hbex.coveredca.com\/data-research\/data-viz\/individual-market-risks-by-state-2019\/\">wide variations state to state<\/a>, with a broad swath of the South and parts of the Midwest in danger of what the report calls &ldquo;catastrophic&rdquo; average rate increases by 2021.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to the analysis, the largest single impact will come from eliminating, starting in 2019, the ACA&rsquo;s penalty for Americans who violate the law&rsquo;s requirement that most people in the United States carry health coverage.
